Tennessee Titans vs Kansas City Chiefs: AFC Championship 2020 Game Info

NASHVILLE — This week, the Tennessee Titans (11-7) travel to Kansas City to play the Chiefs (13-4) in the AFC championship match. Kickoff is scheduled for Arrowhead Stadium (capacity 76,416) at 3:05 p.m. ET Sunday 19th January.

The winner will represent the AFC in Super Bowl LIV, scheduled to take place Feb. 2 in Miami Gardens, Fla. Between the 49ers and the Green Bay Packers (6:40 p.m. ET), the NFL champion must face the winner of the Sunday NFC championship match in San Francisco.

This week marks the Titans and Chiefs ‘ second playoff game in a period of 3 years. During the season in 2017, the Titans beat the Chiefs 22-21 in a wild card game at Kansas City. Nonetheless, the Chiefs hold a 2-1 lead in three all-time postseason games between the two original American Football League clubs.

Earlier in 2019, Tennessee hosted Kansas City at Nissan Stadium (November 10) and scored a dramatic 35-32 victory. Wide receiver Adam Humphries scored the go-ahead touchdown on Ryan Tannehill’s 23-yard pass with 23 seconds on the clock, and defensive back Joshua Kalu secured the victory by blocking a possible 52-yard field goal attempt as time expired.

The Titans will play in the sixth all-time AFC championship game of the franchise, and the first at Oakland since January 19, 2003. On January 30, 2000, the team won the AFC title game at Jacksonville to advance to the first Super Bowl appearance in franchise annals (Super Bowl XXXIV).

The game this week will be televised nationally on CBS, including WTVF NewsChannel 5, a Nashville affiliate. The news department includes Jim Nantz, play-by-play announcer, Tony Romo analyst, and Tracy Wolfson and Jay Feely, sideline reporters.

Fans will stream the game from the Titans app (iOS only), the NFL app, and the Yahoo! Sports app onto their mobile devices. Limitations apply. For more info please visit

The Titans Radio Network will broadcast the game across the Mid-South with “Voice of the Titans” Mike Keith, analyst Dave McGinnis, sideline reporter Amie Wells and gameday hosts Rhett Bryan and Jonathan Hutton, including Nashville flagship 104.5 The Zone.

Westwood One Sports is also to broadcast the game to a national radio audience. The call will be from play-by-play announcer Kevin Harlan, analyst Tony Boselli and field reporter Laura Okmin.

Titans Defeat Top Ravens Seed To Advance

The Titans have earned the right to play another week with a 28-12 divisional-round win over No. 1 seed Ravens in Baltimore. They never trailed against a Ravens team that hadn’t lost since Sept. 29 in the game and hadn’t scored fewer than 20 points throughout the season.

The Titans have faced and defeated NFL’s top-ranked scoring defense in the New England Patriots in the last two playoff games (14.1 points allowed per game in 2019) and the top-ranked scoring offense in the Ravens in the league (33.2 points per game).

The Titans defense registered three takeaways — two interceptions and one fumble recovery — and Baltimore added four sacks. The Ravens were also rejected on fourth-down attempts, including a pair of fourth-and-one stops.

Derrick Henry rushed back against the Ravens for 195 yards and added a touchdown pass to the Corey Davis wide receiver. Henry became the first player in the Super Bowl era (1966–present), in three consecutive regular season and/or postseason games, to rush for 180 or more yards. Moreover, in a player’s first four post-season games, his 561 career playoff rushing yards set a record for the largest total in the Super Bowl era.

Ryan Tannehill took his second victory in the playoffs, throwing for two touchdowns and running for another score. Tannehill, the NFL’s top passer in 2019 (117.5 passer rating), has led the Titans to a 9-3 record since taking over as the team’s regular season starting quarterback in Week 7.

The Chiefs had a bye in the wild card round, as the second seed of the AFC in the playoffs. We host the Houston Texans in the divisional round and we won 51-31 in the first half after trailing 24-0. It was the biggest comeback in the history of Chiefs, and it was tied by any NFL team in post-season history for the fourth-largest comeback.

Under Andy Reid, who is head coach of Kansas City in his seventh season, the Chiefs have clinched six postseason berths, including the last four AFC West (2016-19) champions. They also hosted last season’s conference championship game, losing off to the eventual New England Patriots Super Bowl champion in overtime.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes played in 14 games in his third NFL season and passed with only five interceptions for 4,031 yards and 26 touchdowns (105.3 passer-rating). The reigning NFL MVP leads the league with 75 touchdown passes in the past two seasons.

2020 AFC Championship Game odds, line: Titans vs. Chiefs picks, expert predictions that’s 22-11… The Tennessee Titans will try to defeat Kansas City for the second time this season when they travel to Arrowhead Stadium to meet the Chiefs in Sunday’s 2020 AFC Championship Game. The Titans (11-7) knocked off the regular season Chiefs, 35-32, at Nashville in week 10, with Tennessee running back Derrick Henry rushing for 188 yards. The reigning nfl MVP, Quarterback Patrick Mahomes, returned from a knee injury to pass for the Chiefs for 446 yards and three touchdowns (13-4), while Tennessee blocked a last-second attempt that would have tied him.

That was the most recent loss to Kansas City. Kickoffs was scheduled at 3:05 p.m. ET On CBS. In the new Titans vs. Chiefs odds, Kansas City is a 7.5-point favorite whereas the over-under for total points scored is 52. Until making any picks for Chiefs vs. Titans, check out SportsLine analyst Mike Tierney’s NFL predictions.

A veteran sportswriter, whose reporting has appeared for decades in The New York Times and the Los Angeles Times, Tierney has covered all levels of football. He’s been the most popular NFL handicapper for SportsLine this season, posting a 62-35 record in his last 97 NFL predictions, returning $2,351 to $100 players. Tierney has also had a sharp eye for these clubs ‘ trajectories, posting a brilliant 22-11 record on his last 33 spread picks involving the Titans or Chiefs.

Tierney told SportsLine representatives in the wild-card round of the 2020 NFL Playoffs that defending champion New England Patriots ‘ elite defense would have trouble with Titans running back on Derrick Henry. And it certainly did, since the workhorse was going for 182 yards as Tennessee (+ 4.5) pulled off the upset 20-13. Anyone who has followed Tierney will be well up.

Now, from every perspective, he has locked in on Titans vs. Chiefs and released yet another comfortable point-spread option. You can see it at SportsLine. In the AFC Championship Game 2020, here are several NFL markers for the Chiefs vs. Titans:

  • Chiefs vs. Titans spread: Kansas City -7.5
  • Chiefs vs. Titans over-under: 52 points
  • Chiefs vs. Titans money line: Tennessee +283, Kansas City -357
  • TEN: In its last eight games, RB Derrick Henry rushed for 1,273 yards.
  • KC: In his 14 full games, QB Patrick Mahomes has topped 250 yards passing 11 times.

Why Can the Titans Cover
Even so, in the AFC Championship Game 2020, Kansas City is not a guarantee to cover the Titans vs. Chiefs. The Titans have played five consecutive games on the road and Henry has been almost invincible. He became the first player in league history to rush into three consecutive games for 180 yards when he went in the divisional round against Baltimore for 195. Ryan Tannehill didn’t have to do much in the playoffs, but he’s 9-4 after taking over as the starting quarterback for Tennessee in Week 6.

Tennessee has covered the spread in five of Kansas City’s last six games and the team is brimming with confidence after winning at New England and Baltimore. The Titans forced three turnovers, and four times sacked Lamar Jackson as they shocked the Ravens. Tackle Jurrell Casey had two of those, and four four-down attempts thwarted the Titans. In the NFL Playoffs 2020, Cornerback Logan Ryan and Safety Kevin Byard accounted for 19 tackles and two interceptions.

Why Can The Chiefs Cover
Arrowhead Stadium has a reputation as a challenging place for opposing teams and there Kansas City covered the spread in five rows. Mahomes was out the last time the Chiefs failed to cover, and in four of the last five games overall, the qb has thrown over 250 yards in. He’s got plenty of tools to deal with, the biggest being All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce, who had 134 receiving yards and three touchdowns against Houston in the 51-31 comeback win.

Since allowing more than 30 points in their previous game, the Chiefs covered the spread in their last five games and the defense played well last Sunday since having led to 14 Houston points by special team miscues. Frank Clark had three of Deshaun Watson’s five sacks of the team and stopped the Texans on four of the fourth-down attempts at conversion. The defense allows 19.4 points on average, ranks seventh in the NFL, and is eighth in pass coverage at 221.4 yards per game.

How to make picks for Titans vs Chiefs
We can tell you that Tierney is leaning on the max, but he also says a crucial x-factor makes a must-back on one side of the range. Only at SportsLine is he revealing what he is, and which side to choose.

Titans vs. Chiefs Prediction, Preview

The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Tennessee Titans from Arrowhead Stadium in the AFC Championship game Sunday afternoon. Last week, the Titans shocked the Ravens with a 28-12 victory in Baltimore and the Chiefs recovered in their AFC Divisional game for a 51-31 home win over the Texans. In week 10, the Titans posted a home win of 35–32 against the Chiefs. In the 2017 Wildcard game Tennessee also defeated the Chiefs.

Titans Preview
The Tennessee Titans took on underdog role. They shocked the Patriots in the Wildcard with a 20-13 road win and routed the Baltimore Ravens 28-12 in the Divisional Playoff. The Titans have now won three straight games reminiscent of their regular-season final win over the Texans.

In the regular season, Ryan Tannehill was excellent after taking over as #1 QB in place of Marcus Mariota. The seasoned QB has recorded 2742 passing yards in 11 regular-season games with a 22:6 TD to INT ratio. Tannehill was busy handing out the football to Henry and has only 160 passing yards in the two playoff wins, although he has an INT ratio of 3:1 TDs.

Derrick Henry was the playoffs ‘ MVP until now. The 26-year-old RB rushed against the Patriots for 182 yards and finished off against a tough Baltimore defense with a phenomenal 195 yards. Titans number one target A.J. In his last two games Brown has only 13 receiving yards. The 22-year-old rookie WR finished with 1051 yards on the regular season. The Titans offense has obviously relied heavily, and for good reason, on their running game. They scored at least 28 out of their last four games, in three points.

Most of the season, the Tennessee defense was a strength and they have been excellent in both playoff wins. We limit Tom Brady and the Patriots to 13 points and to 12 points for Lamar Jackson and the Ravens, which is not an easy task. They finished 12th against the rush and 24th against the transfer in the regular season. During regular season play, Tennessee scored an average of 25.1 points, good for 10th in the NFL. They made a 20.7 points average, putting them 12th overall. The Titans are now 7-3 on the road with their playoff wins included.

Chiefs Preview

For the Kansas City Chiefs, no lead is insurmountable. They came in last week’s AFC Divisional Playoff from a 24-0 loss to the Texans in their 51-31 win. C.K. Seven straight games have now been won overall.

With a brilliant performance in the winning effort, Pat Mahomes racked up 321 yards passing along with a phenomenal five touchdowns. The 24-year-old QB star has now completed six straight games without throwing a pick. In the regular season Mahomes posted 4031 passing yards with a ratio of 26:5 TD to INT. Damien Williams rushed in last week for 74 yards. The 27-year-old RB had a strong regular season, posting an average of 4.5 yards per attempt on 498 rushing yards.

Last week, Travis Kelce was a force which made 10 receptions for 134 yards. The 30-year-old tight end has great chemistry with Mahomes and this season he has recorded 1229 yards receiving. The offense against the Chiefs has now recorded more than 30 points in two straight games and registered at least 23 points in 12 straight. Mahomes led the Chiefs to passing offense in fifth row.

The Kansas City defense doesn’t get the coverage their offense does, but in the final stretch of the season and on Sunday they were excellent. They’re eighth against the pass in the NFL and 26th against the sprint. The Chiefs have averaged 28.2 points in the NFL ranking them fifth this season. Opponents were kept at 19.7 points, good for the seventh overall. C.K. Is at home 6-3.
